Agriculture Business Development
The Agriculture Business Development Division helps create opportunities for success for farmers and agribusinesses statewide in three specific ways:
- Our staff helps grow Missouri’s agriculture-based businesses
by providing high-quality business counseling, information and training
on a sector-by-sector basis through its business and industry support
program. Areas of specialization include capitalization, business planning,
marketing, industry development, product and brand development, organizational
structures and legal issues.
- Our staff helps grow Missouri’s agriculture-based industries by working
with key players such as universities, associations, private sector partners
and federal and state agencies to facilitate the growth of each sector.
- Our staff helps grow the demand for products grown, raised and processed in Missouri by increasing consumer awareness and sales. The AgriMissouri marketing program serves as the overall brand for all domestic promotions. Additionally, the grape and wine Program promotes grapes, juice and wine produced in Missouri using market development funds paid by grape and wine producers. The division’s international marketing program works worldwide to sell Missouri agricultural products. The program has international offices in Taiwan and works with the Department of Economic Development’s offices worldwide.
The division is also home to the Missouri Agriculture and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA), which provides a variety of financial assistance programs, including tax credits, loans, loan guarantees, grants, and scholarships for farmers and agribusinesses.
