For Immediate Release: December 5, 2007Missouri Company Brings Generations of Experience to Corn & Soybean Facility(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – Today, Premium Ag Products Cooperative held a grand opening celebration in Clarence, Mo. to announce the opening of a new edible corn and soybean conditioning facility. The company began in 1999 when producers began pooling resources and marketing identity-preserved and non-GMO crops. Currently, Premium Ag Products represents approximately 100,000 acres of row crops in Northeast Missouri. “Premium Ag Products is adding more value to their high-quality products through advanced growing procedures and a new state-of-the-art cleaning and bagging facility,” said Katie Smith, director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. “Missouri is blessed to have strong and innovative leaders in agribusiness. This is another great example of our strong agriculture community. The research and investment will allow this Missouri company to become well-positioned in both the domestic and international markets.” The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority provided a Missouri Value-Added Grant in the amount of $195,525 to Premium Ag Products and the 72 farmer investor owners will be issued $649,500 in New Generation Cooperative Incentive Tax Credits. Renovations for the corn and soybean conditioning facility began in March 2007. A seed cleaner, color sorter and material handling system were added components to the operation to insure that all precautionary measures are taken to preserve the identify of all non-GMO crops. Every shipment of the products are tagged and tracked from farm to receiving and on through processing to its final destination. “Premium Ag Products is looking forward to working with our grower/members in adding value to their production agriculture,” said G.W.
