For Immediate Release: November 21, 2007Governor’s Conference on Agriculture Paves the Gateway to the Future(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – Highlighting Missouri’s agriculture industry, the 41st Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture is set to bring the agriculture community, producers and industry leaders together to discuss the future of the state’s agricultural industry in St. Louis on Jan. 6-7, 2008. “Missouri agriculture continues to be a cornerstone of our state’s economy with the work of thousands of Missouri farm families,” said Gov. Matt Blunt. “The Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture continues to offer these families’ opportunities to learn more about innovation in agriculture, discuss trends, share success stories, find solutions and learn new marketing opportunities for their products.” The conference agenda will begin on Sunday, Jan. 6 with A Taste of AgriMissouri reception offering a diverse array of Missouri’s finest foods and beverages and will host a live and silent auction benefiting the Missouri FFA Leadership Fund, Missouri 4-H Foundation, Agriculture Future of America (AFA) and Agricultural Leadership of Tomorrow (A LOT). Monday, Jan. 7 will bring guest speakers from around the country to provide an outlook into Missouri’s agriculture future. “We are very excited to bring the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture to a new place this year. Agriculture is the foundation of our state’s economy and that rings true even in the urban areas. One in every 12 jobs in the St. Louis relates to the agricultural industry and there is no better place to highlight our industry than in St. Louis,” said Katie Smith, director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture. “Our line up of innovative speakers and presenters at this year’s Governor’s Conference on Agriculture is something that Missouri producers do not want to miss.
