Missouri Wine Competition Honors the Best of the Bunch

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – Six Missouri wineries earned top honors as the Best of the Bunch at the 2006 Missouri Wine Competition held July 27-28, 2006 in Columbia. Twenty-four wineries from across the state participated in this annual competition sponsored by the Missouri Wine & Grape Board. A panel of expert judges from across the United States tasted 207 wines and awarded 29 Gold, 67 Silver and 72 Bronze medals.

“I am pleased that there were so many gold medals awarded during the competition,” said Jim Anderson, executive director of the Wine & Grape Board. “Our Show-Me State wineries are really showing their quality. The winning wineries earned the right to call their wines the best in the state.”
