ACFA Seizure Picture
ACFA inspectors rescued at least 82 King Charles Cavalier Spaniels from the Severn River Kennel in southern Missouri. Twelve puppies were found locked inside this van at the kennel with no food or water. They had been living in and sleeping in their own excrement for several days. This kennel was operating illegally and had failed to obtain an ACFA license from the Missouri Department of Agriculture. Inspectors found the kennel based on a tip from a concerned citizen.

Some adult King Charles Cavalier Spaniels at the Severn River Kennel were locked in small crates for days on end. The dogs kept just enough of their areas clean for sleeping, with feces piled around the remainder of the crates. ACFA inspectors rescued the animals and have placed them in a safe environment where they are receiving the care necessary to revive them to a healthy state.

This King Charles Cavalier puppy attempted to feed himself with food remnants from the bottom of a discarded can. The animal was unable to free himself and survived for an unknown amount of time with the can stuck on his head. The kennel operators were put out of business by MDA ACFA Inspectors with the assistance of the Barry County Sheriff's Department, the Barry County Prosecuting Attorney and the Missouri Pet Breeder’s Association.
