Thank you for partnering with AgriMissouri in publicizing your local farmers’ market!
The tools found in this kit will help you spread the word about farmers’ markets, draw additional interest in specific times of year and keep customers coming back long after the “new” of the season wears off.
You may be asking ‘How do I get started?’ It’s really very simple.
You can either download the materials or request a CD that contains electronic Macintosh versions of all the materials on this web page. To request a CD, e-mail Lane.McConnell@mda.mo.gov. The materials below are in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) and Microsoft Word (.doc) format.
If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download a FREE copy from Adobe’s web site.
Microsoft Word document files can be opened by saving the file locally on the computer and opening it using Microsoft Word. If you do not have Microsoft Word installed on your computer, you can download a viewer which allows you to print and view Microsoft Word files from the Microsoft Word Viewer download page.
Advertising Materials
The Farmers’ Market ad slicks and Farmers’ Market postcard
files are set up so that you can advertise with the aid of your local
copy center. Just open the pdf, personalize the materials and print the
quantity you need. The ad slicks can then be taken to your local newspaper
when purchasing ad space. The printed postcards can be sent to your list
of customers.
You can also personalize the radio ad on your personal computer. The document will be protected with the exception of the fields you need to personalize, letting you make changes throughout the season without the worry of losing the original ad. Press the tab key to easily move between fields. After you personalize the ad, just take it or fax it to your local radio station and ask them to run the release.

In addition to the advertising materials, you will find four press releases in this kit. These releases are designed to do four things: - Announce the season opening
- Announce the season closing
- Highlight a key product
- Call attention to a special time during the season

You can personalize these materials in the same way as the radio copy. All four press releases are protected so that all you have to do is fill in the customized fields and print. You will also find a media list of contacts in your area to publicize your farmers’ market.
- To distribute the releases you need to follow the steps outlined below:
- Identify the media outlets you wish to contact
- Fax your identified contacts the customized press releases
- Follow up with the contacts within 24 hours to answer any questions they may have
- Monitor the newspapers you contacted for coverage
